We woke up on Markys 27th birthday! He had some birthday dulce de leche pancakes for breakfast to celebrate with Goldie and Josh. I remained near the toilet, feeling at my worst today. I watched whilst there was a packing frenzy, it is amazing how much mess can be made by four people! The boys donated us some snacks and toiletries which we welcomed with eager arms! We waved Goldie and Marky off at around midday to start their journey back to England. They ended up scoring an upgrade to business class, perks of Markys job, so I can’t imagine the journey was too bad! It was a weird mixed feeling pang of homesickness waving them off and knowing they were going back to summer at home and to see everyone, but this quickly faded away as we pinched ourselves and the reality of being in Peru settled back in. I think I had just about managed to put on a brave face in front of Marky and Goldie but as soon as they left collapsed into a heap on Josh, unable to do much that was helpful at all. Josh managed to get us organised and into a motor taxi back to our original Mancora homestay, Las Buguimballias, where we were staying for the following 3 nights. I immediately lay on the bed with a pounding headache falling in and out of sleep for the afternoon, whilst Josh unpacked and got settled in. Josh started playing with his photos from his new camera and quickly realised he needed some specific software to edit them, which my old laptop wasn’t cooperating with. It was a bit of a muddle for him to sort out, and by the end of the day he was at the point of thinking it was impossible, so was feeling very disheartened. I felt so ill having not been able to tolerate even dioralyte that I spontaneously burst into tears on a bemused Josh. Funnily enough the wet tears reassured me that I wasn’t too dehydrated! Josh ordered a takeaway pizza as I wasn’t going to be moving anywhere, and we watched some episodes of friends on the ipad.
