We got up and had breakfast in the hostel. First we went to the huge San Pedro market, it sells all sorts of souvenirs, jumpers, magnets, table cloths, textiles, beautiful fresh flowers, fresh fruit and vegetables, meat (including pigs heads, chicken feet), Peruvian chocolate, Peruvian coffee, all sorts of coca leaves and coca sweets. There is locals also an area selling street food, lots of rice and chicken and soups, there were lots of having lunch. In Peru people have big hot lunches and smaller dinners like a sandwich or something. There are also loads of stalls selling freshly made fruit juices, and ladies waving their menus to try and entice you in. We are planning to try a lunch here but don’t want to risk getting a dodgy stomach right before our five day trek so will save that for another day!

We strolled along to Jacks café again, and had a nice big rice and chicken lunch. Next we went into our trekking tour company Bioandean Expeditions, where we paid our outstanding balance for our trek and arranged a briefing for tomorrow evening. There are huge charges for using card machines so we had to do a few cash withdrawals to get the dollars out, which was a bit of a mission, but at least Monzo lets us do withdrawals in the cheapest way possible! We went to a lovely bakery and had a coffee and shared a fresh brownie before heading back to our hostel. We chilled for a bit and had our left over pasta from the previous night for dinner. Josh was craving a Horlicks so we walked to the supermarket to find some but we were unsuccessful, I’m not sure they drink it here! We went back home and fell asleep pretty quickly.
