We had another nice long sleep. I get the feeling this accommodation is fairly new; the mattresses are brand new and so comfortable so we have been sleeping really well. We had breakfast in bed and had a bit of a lazy start to the day. Eventually we got ourselves up and out and into a mototaxi to Huacachina, the desert oasis. We went to a restaurant with a view of the oasis and shared a pizza and a glass of wine, and briefly chatted to Sargie. Then we walked up a huge sand dune. It was quite hard work, and took a little while to get to the top.

Some people were sand boarding down, strapped into snowboards, but it looked like a bit too much effort to keep walking back up the huge dune! Eventually we made it to the top. It was really windy so sand was getting absolutely everywhere! We appreciated the vast views across the desert, took some pictures, and then had the most fun running down the dune sinking into the super fine sand.

At sunset we stopped at a little café and had a coffee and cake before catching a mototaxi back to Ica. It was freezing again as soon as the sun had gone down at around six, like clockwork! We relaxed in our hostel, showered the mounds of sand off, and had a quick tuna pasta dinner before crashing into bed.
