We got up and had breakfast in the hostel. The hostel volunteer from The Netherlands tried marmite for the first time, I’m not sure he will ever eat it again! We packed up our room and said our goodbyes to the volunteers and the cat which, finally, after a week of trying, had come up to me and curled up on my lap during breakfast. We ordered an Uber and got taken to our B&B for the night. We are moving accommodation because our hostel is fully booked for tonight and we couldn’t get a night bus until tomorrow. We had treated ourselves to a lovely place called Kukuli b&b, which is in a quieter area of Cusco. We knocked on the door and got shown in. You would never imagine the little farmyard courtyard that greeted us, dogs, rabbits, chickens, ducks, cats and geese wandering around in a patch of green. We spotted some hummingbirds too. Our room was spacious, homely and peaceful, and there were tables and chairs in the sun in the courtyard. We sat in the sun continuing with diary/photo edits. When our hunger got the better of us we walked the 20 minutes into town and had our last lunch at trusty Jacks café! We walked to the main square and found a little café for a coffee, then ordered an Uber back home as Josh was still feeling poorly. When we got home we used the internet to plan our onward travel plans until we get to Bolivia, as our Peru visas run out in the next 10 days or so. Josh set up a Workaway account, which is a website where you can find work and volunteer opportunities all around the world. When our brains were too frazzled with bus times and hostels and logistics we had a hot shower. Our host lent us a retro gas heater for the evening, and it was so nice to be cozy and warm in our room! We actually struggled to turn the gas back off when we went to sleep, but we got there in the end! We watched some tv in bed and fell asleep. We really enjoyed not being in a hostel for a night!

About us

We are Josh and Jen and we created this site so we could have somewhere to combine Jens writing and Josh's photos of our year traveling together. It is a little keepsake for us, and also a way for friends and family to keep up to date with where we are and what we are up to.
