Peter's Farm
Woke up in the dawn of a Caiprinha evening
We piece the night together over breakfast
Ate German bread with orange marmalade and hot milk
Climb up to the heavens passing clouds along the way
Up to the swimming pool
We sit and accept the sun like an old friend
and when it gets too much we plunge into the blue
hold our breath and swim lengths
as if we do not need air to breathe
We let the sun dry us
and sit by the heat of the barbecue
and play chase the ace.
Lunch is spare ribs, a yellow root, and Brasilian beers
We sit like a family of adults and share our lives along with the food.
After, we have a siesta
I hang lower than ripe fruit as the hammock holds me
Peter leads us through the intricacy of the farm
We see angry cows, a nursing duck, and a pig that just wants to play.
We say goodbye to them and take shelter in an old barn where we poke spider webs and notice two eyes staring from the trees
We run with the dogs back to the house
and complete the day with Caiprinhas.
