We woke up at 06:30 to get our bags sorted, showered, and checked out. We walked through the town to the bus station, which we arrived at half an hour early. The bus was delayed by an hour so we chilled in the bus shelter for a while, trying to comprehend that this is the last day in Brasil and in South America. What a weird feeling! Trying to soak every last bit of culture up like a sponge. We got on the bus, better seats this time thankfully, settled ourselves down with our headphones in and drifted off. I have to confess that a few tears fell out here and there throughout today at the thought of leaving this beautiful continent and at the thought of this incredible year coming to a close! We had a few toilet and snack breaks, Josh got another packet of ketchup crisps and I my last packed of cheesy Cheetos! We got to Salvador at around 16:00 and headed straight for the McDonalds in the bus station. We ate, used the facilities and found a prepaid taxi to take us on to Salvador airport. We watched as the queue for the lottery ticket booth got longer and longer. Final bit of true Brasil! We drove the 45 minutes through traffic to the airport, filming the views of the colourful favelas built into the hillsides, and the moto taxis whizzing past - I love Brasil so much! We got to the airport in good time, so spent a while sorting through our bags, dividing our stuff that has been merged between our two bags over the last eleven months, in order to prepare to split ways for a bit when we land in England. We freshened up in the toilets and got our flight socks on. We checked in and dropped our luggage off, hoping to find it again in London tomorrow. We went through security and found a few last minute souvenirs to spend our small cash on, had a coffee and bought a burrito to eat on the plane - we have gone so budget that we don’t get fed or watered throughout the journey. We bumbled around the airport and used the WiFi before boarding and getting comfy. We ate our burrito after take off then put our eyemasks and earplugs in, in attempt to rest up for most of the journey.

We are Josh and Jen and we created this site so we could have somewhere to combine Jens writing and Josh's photos of our year traveling together. It is a little keepsake for us, and also a way for friends and family to keep up to date with where we are and what we are up to.
