We got up to our alarms, and had coffee and an eggy breakfast, our fave! We showered, finished up packing and said thanks to our hosts. We got an Uber to the main bus terminal where we identified our bus agency and bought our tickets for onwards travel. We bought ourselves a coffee and used the terminals free wifi to pass the time. It was pretty busy and it was clear that everyone was off on their beach holidays. They were packing their sun lounger chairs and cool boxes onto the buses. We got on the bus and drove along the coast for about two hours to our little town called Punta Negra. Josh and I listened to podcasts and the journey was quick. Two hours is nothing these days! We were greeted at the bus stop by our air bnb host. She helped us carry our stuff one block to our tiny little cabin that we are in for the next few days. It is like a small beach hut studio with a small shower/toilet/sink, a double bed, table and chairs and a simple kitchen. A perfect quiet spot. It feels like a little retreat but at the same time made me think of the beach hut in Waldringfield. We should get it on air bnb! Josh and I chilled for a bit before walking round the corner to the tiny shop (a hut in someones front garden) where we bought some homemade bread. We walked back to the hut and ate olives, crisps, bread and olive and balsamic oil for lunch. Feels like a holiday from our holiday if that makes sense! After lunch we suncreamed up and walked five minutes down to the beach. It’s a long stretch of sand dune. The sea breeze had come in and it was a perfect temperature to sit and chill, rather than bake in the sun. Josh and I chatted away to each other (honestly, I don’t know how we still have so much to say after 9 months of living in each others pockets, but we do!) We had a little paddle and then decided it was a bit chilly, so walked back to our cabin. We went to a different, marginally bigger market and bought a few little bits like milk and cheese to get us through until tomorrow lunch time. We got back to the cabin and had a gnocchi dinner. I fiddled with the diary and Josh went on the WiFi. It has cooled down to a nice temperature and we have a fan in the cabin but I think there is going to be mosquitos around later, so plan is to shower and slather ourselves in insect repellent, and potentially get under the mosquito net, for the first time since we were in Colombia!
