We got up and made the most of the included hostel breakfast before getting ourselves sorted and out the house. We wandered through the area of Vila Madelena to Beco de Batman, an area famous for its graffiti. It was really colourful. James is trying to make a little compilation video of our time together here so he took some little clips for that, and Dom took loads of photos of us all. Then James marched us all down a main road for nearly an hour and a half, we were basically walking alongside a busy road in Sao Paulo in 36°C heat! By the time we got to the park we were all knackered and sat down as soon as we could. There was a little stall selling fresh coconut water, so we grabbed one of those, before wandering around the park for a short while. When we realised the lunch place James wanted to go to was closing relatively soon, we hopped in a taxi. We went to a classic Brasilian meat restaurant where you have the green circle on the table, which means more please, and you spin it to red when you have eaten enough or need a break. I distinctively remember doing this and enjoying it with Peter and Consuelo and dad the last time I was in Sao Paulo! The waiters walk around with the huge skewers of different cuts of beef, and saw it off onto your plate. There was also a huge buffet of vegetables meats and salads to help ourselves from. We went to one called Bovinus that Peter had recommended to us. After eating far too much, we were all ready for a lie down, so got an Uber back to the hostel. We chilled in the hostel for a bit before walking down to the bakery round the corner for more custard tarts, which are just so damn good! We brought them back to the hostel and played dice and card games in our room for the evening.

About us

We are Josh and Jen and we created this site so we could have somewhere to combine Jens writing and Josh's photos of our year traveling together. It is a little keepsake for us, and also a way for friends and family to keep up to date with where we are and what we are up to.
