We had a lie in and then said a quick goodbye to Joe and Henna who we are meeting back up with in a different town tomorrow. We had some scrambled eggs and spent the morning doing a bit of much needed admin. We got an Uber to the Olympic swimming pool, which we had read about online, but it turns out they weren’t open for tourists. Our Uber driver got so confused the 10 minute journey took 1.5 hours, so by the time we were back in the flat we were ready for some food. For lunch we made more pancakes – what a cheap meal and how easy they are! We walked through the town and did a bit of souvenir shopping, stopping in the Havaiana flip flop shop - they cost about £5 a pair here instead of £20 or so at home! We enjoyed the last of the evening light on beautiful Salvador and popped into the main gold leaf covered Cathedral and another church on the way home. They had been completely boarded up over carnival so it was nice to finally be able to go and a have a little look. We relaxed at home for a couple of hours and then wandered through the town to Bar Zulu for our last moqueca dinner and a tropical fruit juice. We saw and heard a load of drumming groups and it definitely felt a bit like the finale of carnival.

About us

We are Josh and Jen and we created this site so we could have somewhere to combine Jens writing and Josh's photos of our year traveling together. It is a little keepsake for us, and also a way for friends and family to keep up to date with where we are and what we are up to.
