We woke up at 0900 and had coffee in bed. Beto had kindly set the table for us so we had some breakfast of toast and cereal before leaving at around 11:30. We headed to Avenida Paulista, a main road that is blocked to cars on a Sunday. There was a wicked atmosphere, live samba, dancing, craft stalls, more live music, and so on. We walked all the way up to the museum of modern art where we hopped on the metro, which was surprisingly easy to figure out. It is fairly cheap and has air conditioning too, we were impressed! We got ourselves to Japan Town, another area recommended on a Sunday, when there are Japanese stalls spread out everywhere. It Is home to the worlds largest Japanese community outside of Japan. We had a wander around before heading into a cheap little Japanese restaurant for some lunch. We walked around the small Japanese gardens before getting the metro back to Peters house. Consuelo was home with her son and daughter and law. We said hello, she is so small, I had forgotten how little she is! We had a coffee and sat in the lounge where we managed to chat a little regardless of the language barrier. After some time Peter came home and greeted us. He got Josh a beer and we sat in the lounge chatting away. Consuelo kindly did mine and Joshs laundry. Peter took myself Josh and Beto to a pizza place around the corner from the flat. It wasn’t just any pizza place though, it was very grand, the building and the ovens were absolutely incredible and the waiters were in bow ties. We had caiprinhas and ate our weight in delicious pizza, potentially the best pizza of the whole trip which is quite a call considering how many pizzas we have eaten! When we got back home Josh and Peter drank some of Peters home brewed cachasa, which is Brasils answer to rum, and the spirit that is in a Caiprinha.

About us

We are Josh and Jen and we created this site so we could have somewhere to combine Jens writing and Josh's photos of our year traveling together. It is a little keepsake for us, and also a way for friends and family to keep up to date with where we are and what we are up to.
