We got up and finished some hand washing before heading to the same breakfast café as yesterday for the same breakfast, if it aint broke, don’t fix it! Then we walked into Varadero and onto the beach. Josh paid a backhand few CUC to a hotel beach man to get himself a sun lounger under a palm leaf umbrella for some shade. We both wore our rash vests to prevent sunburn (its deceivingly sunny but windy so easily done) and paddled in the water. Again it was really windy and wavy so we weren’t allowed to go too far out (there are lifeguards that blow their whistle at you/us!). Josh wandered into town and got some drinks and snacks (mostly just an errand to keep him busy for a little while, Cuba doesn’t really do snacks). Then after a while we wandered along to a café for some lunch. We went back to the sun lounger for the rest of the afternoon and did some more swimming and reading about South America.

We left the beach at about 18:30 (still strong sunshine and plenty of people swimming) and went to the WIfi park before heading back to our room to shower. We then went out for some dinner and planned on heading back to the beach for Josh to do some star photography but the sky was a bit too hazy, so we came back and got into bed.
Now it has been just over 2 weeks that we have been away I am really noticing the benefits of not doing nightshifts! I never even thought I was affected too much by shift work. But so far I am always tired in the evening, haven’t found it difficult to fall asleep, and so far have slept really well most nights, plus I go to the toilet in the night a lot less! It really is blissful and I am really appreciating these things that might seem small but effect the way I feel day to day. It is so nice to wake up in the morning and feel like my human self!
