We woke up and suncreamed up and went to a local café for some breakfast (mixed fruit – papaya, pineapple, guava, banana, fresh juice – mango and papaya, toast, eggs and bacon). We walked into Varadero, had a coffee, and found a nice beach spot. We lay in the sun and played in the sea, it was overcast and really windy and wavy but over 30°C still so no need for towels, its warm even as soon as you get out the water! I have finished my book already so started reading the South America guidebook today. I am excited for Bogota now but it feels weird being somewhere so beautiful in this moment, and reading about the next destination! We walked around to explore Varadero for a little while before stopping for a late lunch in a café (we had honey on pizza – it was decent!) It is an odd set up here because apparently most hotels are all inclusive and so there are not that many restaurants or cafes around as apparently most tourists don’t leave their hotels. After our late lunch we walked back to Santa Marta, had a quick coffee and went back to the casa to shower (and Josh did his exercises). Joshs torso is quite pink after today so it is rash vest time for him tomorrow!

About us

We are Josh and Jen and we created this site so we could have somewhere to combine Jens writing and Josh's photos of our year traveling together. It is a little keepsake for us, and also a way for friends and family to keep up to date with where we are and what we are up to.
