12/02/2020 – Rio de Janeiro, Brasil

Woke up at 0900 and packed our things. Made breakfast for Josh and I, the other two were in no fit state to be eating yet! We packed up the apartment and handed the keys over to the housekeeper at 11:00. The air bnb Josh and I were going to next had agreed to let us drop our bags off early so we got our Uber along the road to our next place, a room in someones apartment in the same area of Botafogo. We got shown in and around, and had our fingerprints registered for the e-lock on the front door. We have a small double with en suite, and they have a new 8 week old husky/mix puppy, which is adorable. We dumped our bags in the room and went to a local café, Dom was eager for a sit down. Then James ordered an Uber to a restaurant. He really wanted another all you can eat Churrascaria (restaurant with all the types of meat brought round on skewers with the green and red card) after enjoying the one in Sao Paulo so much. James happily stuffed himself full of the beautiful meat, and the rest of us went for the budget set meal option, still tasty and filling but not quite as special as James’s. By the time we had finished it was pouring with rain. We walked down the road before ducking into a café for a coffee stop. After passing some time there we walked down to Ipanama beach, a beautiful sandy beach with huge rolling waves. We walked until we reached and joined the Copacobana promenade, enjoying the iconic black and white curved tiles. We walked through another little market and Dom bought some souvenirs. James ordered an Uber and we went back to our apartment. James and Dom picked up their bags and we said our goodbyes and waved them off. Sad to see them go and it immediately felt quite strange to go back to being two! Still, looking forward to a few nights of catching up on some sleep! Josh and I went to our room, unpacked, showered and relaxed for a bit. We wandered a couple of doors down to the supermarket, which was a really good one. We cooked ourselves a little dinner, got into bed and watched an episode of Breaking Bad on Netflix.
