James went for a morning wander and returned with some bread and eggs for breakfast. Dom made us eggy bread and we planned the day ahead. We got an Uber to the Escaderia Selaron, a famous set of stairs decorated in colourful tiles by a Chilean artist, and known to us from some music videos. The place was really busy, and it was sweltering hot. We took loads of photos as we wandered up the stairs and enjoyed some live music from a busker. It was so colourful, and felt made for Instagram! We took even more photos on our way down, and dived into a coffee shop on the side for a quick coffee, water, and toilet stop. We browsed some souvenir shops and then hopped into an Uber to Christ the Redeemer. When we went to the ticket office we were shown on the webcam that there was no point going up there, it was far too cloudy to see Christ the Redeemer or the city below. We decided to skip it, and hopped into a taxi to Copacobana. We were pretty happy to set foot onto the black and white tiled promenade, and there were plenty of people enjoying the beach regardless of the grey sky. The sea was dramatic and we strolled for a little while before deciding we were too hungry to continue. We found a lunch buffet on a side street, and ate to our hearts content. As we went to pay we looked out the doors and it looked like night-time outside, it was so dark and pouring with rain. We decided to take a rain check on the afternoons plans so instead went to the supermarket next door and stocked up on provisions before Uber-ing back to our apartment to sit out the weather.

About us

We are Josh and Jen and we created this site so we could have somewhere to combine Jens writing and Josh's photos of our year traveling together. It is a little keepsake for us, and also a way for friends and family to keep up to date with where we are and what we are up to.
