It was still raining when we woke up, and pretty cold upstairs in our room at the top of the house. Quite a draughty window – thinking of using cling film as double glazing if it stays cold here. I think the heating (a big furnace on the middle floor) is broken so the handyman Freddy has been trying to fix it all day! Josh did some electrical work – he is making a cool big rustic wooden light fitting thing that he is going to suspend in the kitchen. Pretty good deal for the hostel to get all his labour for free! I made some brownies again which were more gooey than a couple of days ago and went down a treat. Its been cold and rainy all day so there have been more guests around the hostel, using it as a day to reset, reading books, playing games, and chilling in the lounge next to the fire. Some of us played the complicated snap game, blood was shed! I popped out to the shops for a little stroll when there was a break in the rain – it started raining pretty heavily a few minutes in so I abandoned that and went back to the hostel, curled up by the fire and got stuck into my book. Josh finished at around 16:00 so we had a coffee and chilled before making dinner - coconut rice and veg. I opened the bar up and Josh went and relaxed for a bit. He has really got into his chess app on his phone recently. I have really been enjoying people watching from behind the bar and meeting all sorts of people, different ages and from so many different parts of the world, it is quite a fun temporary job! Plus I can pull a decent pint now!

Josh did his last electrical shift in the hostel, and I had my last bar shift today! We wandered through town for the last time together...

About us

We are Josh and Jen and we created this site so we could have somewhere to combine Jens writing and Josh's photos of our year traveling together. It is a little keepsake for us, and also a way for friends and family to keep up to date with where we are and what we are up to.
