We set off the day to a slow start after the best sleep since we have been here. Maybe we are getting used to the sounds, smells, routine as well as adjusting to the altitude. We had coffee and breakfast (same as usual). The water coming out the taps was brown as John said there was work happening to the pipes down the road, so we treated ourselves to some bottled water from the shop over the road. Then we ordered an Uber and went to a bouldering wall about 20 minutes away called zona de bloque. They have Uber here! The Uber was less than £3! We got our teeny tiny climbing shoes on and bouldered around for about 2 hours (£5 each, so cheap!) with a little coffee break in the middle. It was really fun but our arms are aching now! Then we Uber-ed back to our hostel and had some of our left over food (pasta, cereal, fruit, coffee) showered (the water is clear again!) chilled for a bit and then went out to see what was happening. Not too much, but it is a Monday evening to be fair! We went to a Japanese restaurant 2 blocks away, called Fuji Izakaya, which is owned by John’s sister. It was quite refreshing to have some food that was completely different to what we have been eating over the last few weeks (gyoza, yakitori, ramen and teriyaki chicken!) Afterwards we wandered through the Candeleria district a bit more before going to our trusty shop over the road for snacks (must stop buying chocolate, the novelty after Cuba still hasn’t worn off!) and heading back in for some downtime. It has been a very nice chilled and easygoing day!
Spanish phrase of the day:
Josh: Buenos Tardes = Good Afternoon
Jen: Fuimos a ... = We went to...
