We woke up at around 0900 as today was supposed to be a day off. When I checked my phone Peter had messaged to say he had made a mistake, that some guests were arriving tomorrow so there was a bit of bed shuffling and making to do. Peter was at the hospital getting some blood test results and getting his rib seen to (he spoke to me yesterday about his rib, I think he has cracked it!) We chilled in the studio until 12:15, then went up to the main house where Petra was home alone and making the lunch. The girls were at school and Tiare (Peters wife) at work (she does an overnight flight as an air stewardess to Tahiti every Monday night.) The three of us had a pasta lunch and chinwagged a bit about the work and the family here. Josh and I started working and decided we would ask to do a full shift today and take a different day off. When Peter arrived I told him we didn’t want to work on a day off, so could we just use today as a regular day and take another day off. He was a bit taken aback at the directness of us asking, as he usually calls the shots, but agreed and then pootled off leaving us to it. He came back about 20 minutes later and apologised and said of course it is ok to work today and have Thursday off. I think he needs people to be direct with him sometimes! Josh continued strimming and raking the grass, and I set up bungalow 2 and 3 and cleaned the floors, ready for guest arrivals tomorrow and Thursday. I finished the laundry and we settled into our studio. The storm is still here so it has been wind and rain on and off all day. We showered, read our books and had some dinner.

Josh did his last electrical shift in the hostel, and I had my last bar shift today! We wandered through town for the last time together...

About us

We are Josh and Jen and we created this site so we could have somewhere to combine Jens writing and Josh's photos of our year traveling together. It is a little keepsake for us, and also a way for friends and family to keep up to date with where we are and what we are up to.
