We woke up and had coffee and cereal. We had been told to keep our eye out on the guests cars from around 10:00, as once the guests had left I could start cleaning the bungalows. Sure enough by around 10:00 a guest had left so I got to work cleaning the 3rd bungalow. Once I had finished that the other gusts had all left so I could do the other two bungalows too. Josh washed the other car today. When that was done he came and helped me after hanging some laundry out. It took roughly an hour per bungalow. I actually don’t mind the work so far, so stress free compared to a shift in my normal job! Also it was much nicer today as Peter just let me get on with it, I think he must trust I can do it! Then Josh and I went back into the laundry room and continued to sort it. Peter turned up with a brand new washing machine and he and Josh set it up. There are two broken ones already in the laundry room but I think it is too expensive to ship them back to the mainland to fix them so he just bought a new one instead! Josh, Petra and I got told we were allowed to do our washing as the test run (we are only allowed the rapid wash though)! Then we got called up to the house for lunch. We had freshly caught fish, which is apparently local from here but they weren’t sure of the name in English. It was really good! Then Josh and I washed up before going back down to the laundry room, hanging out our laundry (defo not that clean but the earth here is like red clay which may have something to do with it?!) and continuing to sort sheets. Technically we had finished for the day but it seems that I am quite task oriented and I find it really annoying to leave a job half done! I made Josh help me as I find it quite difficult to fold the huge double sheets on my own without them touching the floor and getting dirty. When Josh had had enough we went back to our studio. We drank a coffee outside in the sun and then got our empty bags and walked the 40 minutes along the coast into town to get some groceries. We bit the bullet and stocked up on groceries for the next few days, as without the car it’s a decent way to and from the shops. I have never appreciated fruit and vegetables so much, they are so expensive here! We walked back home, still marveling at the dramatic scenery. We had veggie fajitas for dinner, showered and chilled.

Josh did his last electrical shift in the hostel, and I had my last bar shift today! We wandered through town for the last time together...

About us

We are Josh and Jen and we created this site so we could have somewhere to combine Jens writing and Josh's photos of our year traveling together. It is a little keepsake for us, and also a way for friends and family to keep up to date with where we are and what we are up to.
