We got up and quickly packed our things, made ourselves a sandwich to take with us from the provided breakfast, and hopped in an Uber to the bus station. We bought our tickets and were on the comfortable bus pretty quickly. Josh and I both reclined in our seats and fell asleep listening to podcasts immediately. About 2 hours later we arrived into a major bus terminal of Santiago, and managed to find our way with our big bags (through no mans land it felt like) to the next bus station we had to get to. It definitely felt a lot more local at this bus terminal! This bus station was hidden within a shopping mall, but we managed to just about find it nonetheless. We had left ourselves quite a lot of time to find it, so bought our bus tickets and had some cheap hot dogs to fill us up whilst we waited. All the buses stopped for a good two hours so the workers could have their lunch break. Very Latin America! We got on our bus and again plugged ourselves into our phones for the 3 hour journey to Pichilemu. We got dropped off into a small bus station where we put our bags on and found our way using Mapps.me to ‘Lilafken Apartments’ - about a 10 minute walk away. We got shown in – we are in a small wooden cabin, with heating, a small kitchenette and en suite, WiFi, and a TV with Netflix. Because it is off season (it is a small surf town) it is pretty cheap! The people we are volunteering for next had recommended coming here. It is lovely and we have a sea view from our apartment. The sunset was beautiful, iridescent pink. We got settled, and walked to see the sea before going to the nearby shop, a sort of convenience shop, where we bought a few bits for dinner. We went home and made a rice and vegetable dinner, watched some Friends, read our books, and crashed out.

Josh did his last electrical shift in the hostel, and I had my last bar shift today! We wandered through town for the last time together...

About us

We are Josh and Jen and we created this site so we could have somewhere to combine Jens writing and Josh's photos of our year traveling together. It is a little keepsake for us, and also a way for friends and family to keep up to date with where we are and what we are up to.
