We got up and had cereal in our room before packing our things up. We stayed until check out time as we were enjoying the chilled vibes and good internet! We left our bags in the hostel and walked round the corner to the lovely coffee shop we had found the day before. We sat in and slurped that coffee, enjoying every sip. It tastes so much stronger after drinking Nescafe for a month! We then walked back to our hostel and ordered an Uber. It is really hot in Santiago, a lovely shorts and tee-shirt temperature! We got the Uber to the bus station where we bought our tickets and a sandwich and boarded the bus. The buses on Chile are pretty cheap, comfortable, and on time (ish) which is refreshing. Before long Josh and I were both plugged into our phones, podcasts on. I had a little snooze. The journey was about two hours long, to the coast, North West of Santiago. We pulled into a very misty Valparaiso. It immediately had a real seaside town feel about it. We got a taxi to our hostel, ‘Colombina’ and checked in. The hostel building is absolutely huge, with 13 feet high ceilings. It is all crooked ‘slightly on the huh’ and has masses of character. Creeky stairs and rickety wooden floorboards. It reminds me of the Adams family house! I think the guy showing us around the hostel thought our amazement at the building was amusing! We got settled in and then went over the road to Pelegrino café for a coffee. After that we explored our local area a little bit and went to the supermarket for some supplies (again, Waitrose things in the shops?!) We walked a different route back, enjoying all the colourful graffiti and street art. We got back and made a tuna pasta and salad dinner, before going back to our room. We spent the evening trying to organise and make some future plans for when we meet up with some friends in Brazil.
