We got up and had some scrambled eggs on toast for breakfast. Josh spoke to Trudie on a Whatsapp call. We cleaned the flat, washed our sheets and packed our things before showering and heading up to the main house for our last lunch. We had spaghetti in a bit of a rush as we still had a few bits to do. We went back to our studio, finished the last of our packing and then left at around 13:00. Peter and Tiare dropped us at the airport on their way to pick up Leo from school. We said our goodbyes, and they gave us a Rapa Nui maoi keyring as a thanks which was sweet. We went through security, where we accidentally took fruit through which quickly got confiscated! We had a coffee at the airport and before we knew it were boarding the plane. The plane was really modern, the windows darkened/lightened electronically and we had a screen each with various films and tv shows to choose from. Josh and I were both pretty happy at the prospect of watching a film, so quickly tucked ourselves under the blankets and had our headphones in. Josh watched Alita, and I Isle of Dogs, both of which we had each been wanting to see for a while! We got served a hot lunch and had a complimentary glass of wine, this is the life! The flight was just over four hours, so a nice length of time. We collected our luggage and then used the airport collective transfer service to our hostel. It was 27°C at 21:00 at night! It felt nice and comfortable to be back in a bustling and developed city. We had booked Tranqui Hostal on bookings before we left the mainland. We checked in and got shown to our room. We were pretty happy to get in and linked up to the WiFi. Josh immediately got onto Uber Eats and ordered us a Papa Johns pizza delivery. We put Friends on the smart tv and kicked back, in absolute bliss! We ended up not going to sleep until just before 04:00, a mixture of excitement, working internet, and the 2 hour time difference.

Josh did his last electrical shift in the hostel, and I had my last bar shift today! We wandered through town for the last time together...

About us

We are Josh and Jen and we created this site so we could have somewhere to combine Jens writing and Josh's photos of our year traveling together. It is a little keepsake for us, and also a way for friends and family to keep up to date with where we are and what we are up to.
