We got up and had our hostel breakfast before packing. I went over the road to pick up our laundry, and when we unpacked I was sad to see I only had one of my new hiking socks, bought by mum and dad for our trek in Peru in a few months. Gutted, I went back to the shop to see if they had found it but the little lady insisted I had only given her one. Trying not to be too upset about a sock I went back to the hostel and then had a little brainwave. A bit too embarrassed to go back myself I asked Josh to go over there to ask if they still had our Asda bag for life. Eventually, scrunched up in a little ball amongst some other bags, they found it and inside, sure enough, was the unwashed sock to my pair! This felt like such a win! Pleased enough, I was just getting my travel outfit ready when I realised my leggings were missing! Emotional rollercoaster! Went back over the road, they said they had never had them, when I tried to softly say errrr I think you might, the little lady delved into a binbag of sportswear and sure enough, there they were! All’s well that ends well (I can’t think what else we may have lost!) We showered and finished packing before our driver that John had arranged for us arrived. We said our goodbyes and headed to the airport. We checked in with no trouble and went through security. Apparently this is Josh’s first domestic flight ever! We grabbed coffees and snacks and used the free wifi before boarding and reading our books. I am pretty sure I was asleep before take off (standard!). It was an hour or so in the air before we were landed in Cartegena, the North of Colombia. The heat hit us straight away as we walked from the plane to the terminal (budget airline Wingo again, no complaints at all!). As we picked up our bags a guy called Toby who had been on our flight got chatting to us, he is from Germany and has come to teach English to some children nearby. We got a taxi together so as to split costs and he and Josh swapped numbers in case we want to catch up this week. We checked in to a beautiful hostel called El Castillo del Marques and got shown around the beautiful colonial building before being shown down to our little dungeon room. It’s cheap and basic but has a comfortable bed and a.c. so we cant complain! The communal areas are beautiful so I guess we will just use the room to lay our heads. We changed into some cooler clothes and Josh checked the room for critters. (He was excited about the spiders webs under the bed, I was less excited when he showed me!) before we headed 10 minutes down the road to a pizzeria. It was decent! Then we went back and relaxed in the courtyard before bedtime!

About us

We are Josh and Jen and we created this site so we could have somewhere to combine Jens writing and Josh's photos of our year traveling together. It is a little keepsake for us, and also a way for friends and family to keep up to date with where we are and what we are up to.
