Josh did the school drop off with Tiare again. Tiare spoke to Josh and said there are four schools on the island. The public one has 500 pupils, but Anabel goes to a smaller school, at a cost of $80 a month. Tiare said that when she was born here the birth rate here was 1 baby per month, and now the birth rate is 20 per month, so the population is growing quickly! I guess that will have a huge impact on the island and its resources. Josh got back into bed and we relaxed with a coffee before having some scrambled eggs. The sun was shining so we put our swimming stuff on and drove to Anakena beach - a beautiful white sand, palm tree lined beach, with a few Maoi heads to enjoy too. It was a lot quieter than the other times we had been to Anakena, I think because we got there before any of the tour buses arrived. It was really windy, but it had to be done, so we ran into the sea. The water was surprisingly warm, and there were loads of small blue fish swimming around us. The water would have been super clear but the huge waves were stirring the sand up. We had a little kick around with our goggles on anyway! We got changed and back into the car. We drove the coastal road to Rano Raraku (the quarry we visited the week before) as Josh had his eyes on some of the souvenirs there. We did some shopping (Josh bought a magnet) and then drove to the supermarket. We went to Ohi Sushi for lunch, which never disappoints! I love that sushi so much! Then we went home and had a coffee and shared a brownie, and read our books. At about 18:30 we did our 5km run along the coast. It was cloudy but really muggy. The sunset was a beaut, I am going to miss popping my head out of our studio at around 20:00 every night to see the dregs of the sunset across the sea. We came home, showered and had a tuna pasta dinner.
