We got up and had breakfast before being upgraded and moved to a huge double room upstairs! I think its because we are staying so long, and because there is another group of guests coming later. We shoved all our stuff in the nice new room before heading out with John and Edgar to Monseratte again! We wanted to beat our time! It was a lot quieter as it was a working day unlike the bank holiday on Wednesday, and also a lot less hot which was a bit of a relief. Josh and I power walked up the mountain and managed to get 10 minutes off our time, coming in at 41minutes! John told us he was being slow (it took him 28 minutes or something) and Edgar did it in about 50 minutes. It was worth it for the panoramic view at the top. Then we walked quickly down again (took the same amount of time to come down roughly) before getting back to the hostel to shower and chill. Josh and I had leftover fajitas from last night for lunch and then went up to our room to catch up with Goldie (drunk at a wedding!) and then finish this website! What a mission it has been and we did not realise it would take my email address from the year 2000 as the website domain, but you have to pay to change it, so I guess we are stuck with it! (as Charlotte said it could have been a lot worse, her email/msn address used to be alsoknownassexy!) A few hours later we headed out to go to the ATM above Exito to get cash to pay John for our stay here, and then to the hostel, the plan being to drop the cash back and then go out for drinks and dinner, it is a Friday night! However, almost as soon as we got in the rain came down, so we tried to wait it out. By the time it was 21:00 we realised maybe it was best to put our raincoats on and brave it. After wandering around for a good half hour we ended up in a restaurant a few doors down from the hostel. Josh and I shared a platter of traditional Colombian food including arepas and empanadas, a weird black sausage (that we didn’t eat as Josh said he thought it was black pudding), new potatoes, chicken and beef stew, chorizo sausage. We came back to the hostel and went live on the website before chilling and getting into bed.

About us

We are Josh and Jen and we created this site so we could have somewhere to combine Jens writing and Josh's photos of our year traveling together. It is a little keepsake for us, and also a way for friends and family to keep up to date with where we are and what we are up to.
