We got up and had breakfast before starting work at 10:00. Josh continued varnishing (I can tell he is finding this super boring as he keeps procrastinating, even choosing to help me clean at some points instead of varnish!) I had two guests checking out, so two deep cleans. I pootled through them, enjoying listening to music on Spotify (thanks dad!) and messaging Kate (it’s her birthday today!) The wifi in the guest bungalows is much better than in our studio. Josh took Peter to the airport. He flew to Santiago today to have a skin cancer growth removed from his ear, his face lasered, alongside some blood tests and to have his medication for his hepatitis adjusted. He goes to a clinic on the mainland twice a year for a full MOT. It was much more relaxed here without him, and I actually quite enjoy the chilled-ness of the work! Although one of the guests had a bad tummy so that bathroom wasn’t very fun to clean PLUS she had left her rubbish and her toenails all over the floor which made me wretch a little bit!

Josh dropped the two guests off at the airport and picked up Anabel and Leonora from their schools with Tiare. We joined them for lunch in the house – fish, mashed potato and peas. Josh and I cleared up then went to our studio to shower and chill. We read our books for a bit and spoke to Goldie on a Whatsapp video. Then we drove to the supermarket to pick up some groceries. Peter has let us borrow the car again whilst there are no guests renting it. We got home, made some dinner and drank some wine, Chilean Sauvignon Blanc. It is quite cheap even here, so I guess on the mainland it must be dirt cheap!

Josh did his last electrical shift in the hostel, and I had my last bar shift today! We wandered through town for the last time together...

About us

We are Josh and Jen and we created this site so we could have somewhere to combine Jens writing and Josh's photos of our year traveling together. It is a little keepsake for us, and also a way for friends and family to keep up to date with where we are and what we are up to.
