Josh was woken abruptly with a huge cockroach crawling down his neck. What a way to start the day! He managed to chuck it outside and we fumigated the studio. Thankfully we had a text from Peter saying he was fine this morning and able to take the girls to school (he also later told us he had spoken to his wife on the phone who said the school wouldn’t allow the girls to be dropped off by randoms, which made sense and was a relief!) Relieved that we had dodged all parts of the nights weird situation, we had breakfast before cracking on with the days’ jobs. Mine involved the standard cleaning, and Josh continued with sanding and varnishing. Tiare was on her weekly nightshift as a flight attendant, and the girls were at school. Peter Josh and I had a spaghetti lunch. Peter tried to convince us that climate change isn’t a real thing. I get talked over in these discussions and then whatever point Josh can get across in his allocated time slot isn’t heard anyway, quite frustrating at first, but now amusing! He wants to add us on Facebook now so he can send us some news articles! We also get talked at about the Arsenal captain who is Swiss nearly every day. Quite amusing considering mine and Joshs’ combined knowledge of football is next to none. Peter is cross because Bobby (alongside most other Arsenal fans) is not a fan of the Swiss captain, and told us today that he thinks it is because the fans want a British captain not a Swiss one rather than because of his football ability. I really don’t have an opinion to give, but I know this football player like a friend the amount we hear about him! Josh and I cleared up and continued with our jobs until 15:00. The people checking out today left a load of snacks and a nice tip (didn’t tell anyone this time!) as I had helped them out when they thought they had lost their key alongside a few other issues! We had a coffee and a chill in our room before heading out for our 5km run. It was raining but it didn’t look like it was going to stop anytime soon, the horizon of the sea and the grey sky were blurred into one as far as the eye could see! It was quite nice running in the rain as there were fewer people around, and it wasn’t cold at all. We got back and straight into the shower, then made a burrito dinner. We chilled for the rest of the evening.

Josh did his last electrical shift in the hostel, and I had my last bar shift today! We wandered through town for the last time together...

About us

We are Josh and Jen and we created this site so we could have somewhere to combine Jens writing and Josh's photos of our year traveling together. It is a little keepsake for us, and also a way for friends and family to keep up to date with where we are and what we are up to.
